The KSM109 was an electret condenser microphone with transformerless output circuitry. It was introduced in 2002 and discontinued in 2009.
The mic had a fixed Cardioid pickup pattern. The capsule is believed to be a small-diaphragm electret design. Shure published the diaphragm composition (2.5-micron gold-sputtered Mylar) but not its size.
The mic included a foam windscreen (A3WS), clip (A25D), and vinyl pouch (A109ZB). Optional shockmount is p/n A55M or A55HM.
The KSM109/SL was discontinued in the spring of 2009. The final U.S retail price was $305.00. The KSM109/SL was replaced by the SM137; see link in sidebar.
